“Let Him Enjoy It” – New York Mets’ Expensive Gift to Max Scherzer Pleases Top Star After Ending 6-Year Struggle to Make the MLB Playoffs

The New York Mets have recently made the MLB playoffs after a gap of six long years. Ending a dismal run, the Mets are one of the most dominant National League teams this year. Veteran campaigner Max Scherzer has been one of the chief contributors to their emphatic record this season. 

Max Scherzer is a legendary starting pitcher for the New York Mets. He made his MLB debut for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2008. He has also played for the Detroit Tigers, the Washington Nationals, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, respectively. Scherzer is an eight-time All-Star player and a one-time World Series champion.

The Mets’ shortstop Francisco Lindor talked with the press on Monday at a post-game interview. Lindor and his teammates gifted a bottle of champagne to Scherzer after Monday’s game. Alongside the Mets’ qualification, Scherzer reached a personal milestone. 

New York Mets cross the hurdle 

The New York Mets have clinched a spot in the playoffs after Monday night’s victory. The Mets opened up an away series against the Milwaukee Brewers. In their course of victory, the visitors ran rampant. The Mets won comfortably defeating the Brewers by a 7-2 margin.

Playing as the starting pitcher, the enigmatic Max Scherzer was flawless in his performance. Returning from injury, Scherzer pitched in six innings. The Brewers’ batters could only score after Scherzer’s replacement. The victory sealed Scherzer’s 200th win in his MLB career.

Therefore, Monday’s game offered a double reason for the Mets to celebrate. As a tribute prize, Francisco Lindor and teammates gifted a bottle of ‘Ace Of Spades’ champagne to Scherzer. Talking to reporters, Lindor said, “We presented to him as an appreciation and as a sign of respect that I have and we all have. He deserves it. He’s got five more days, let him enjoy it.”
