Apart from being a baseball legend and a sports analyst, Derek Jeter is a successful businessman. The former CEO of the Miami Marlins has invested in a wide variety of businesses. Recently he was in the news for unveiling a sports complex in his alma mater and now he’s again making headlines. This time due to his sports apparel brand – Greatness Wins.

Founded in 2022, his brand has quickly begun to capture people’s interest due to the quality of its products. When it first launched, it only had options for men and kids. Everyone wondered when would the brand unveil women’s apparel. Looks like the wait is finally over.

In 2022, Jeter collaborated with UNTUCKit founder Chris Riccobono, the American Ballet Theatre Principal Dancer Misty Copeland, and ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky to launch the Greatness Wins brand. The Yankees icon started this brand with only one objective, to provide athletes with quality clothing that meets their requirements. Jeter felt that the market currently is not providing true value to athletes.

While initially starting as a male-only brand, the immense growth they’ve experienced in only one year of business is leading to an expansion. With demands for women’s attire growing stronger, Greatness Wins has finally launched its women’s sportswear. The ex-baseballer joined his partner Riccobono as he went on ‘The Clamant Countdown’.

First crediting Misty Copeland for her expertise while designing women’s clothing, Jeter shared what this brand is all about. “What separates us, we are built on performance, quality, and consistent fit but we are true athletic  – we cater not only to professional athletes… But also casual people who may to the gym once or twice a week, like to live a healthy lifestyle.”

When talking about sales, Jeter informed he keeps his eye on it but it’s Riccobono’s area of work. “I get into but I let Chris stress out about it a little bit more than I do on a daily basis.” Later, they talked about how Black Friday is what they were targeting when launching their latest section. Back when the goal was in making, Copeland said, “The women’s line will focus on designing products that are functional, supportive, stylish, and use high-quality, sustainable materials.”

This calls for the need to reminisce over his other impactful ventures. Jeter founded a successful media platform, The Player’s Tribune that publishes first-person stories from athletes, providing unique insight into the daily sports conversation. Also, his Turn 2 Foundation helps children and teenagers in recovering from substance abuse problems. Recently, he rebuilt the baseball/softball complex of his alma mater in Kalamazoo to provide modern facilities to students.

“Rigidity leads to demise, while adaptability paves the path to vitality." Driven by a deep passion for sports, I’m glad I found baseball. Now serving as an MLB writer at EssentiallySports, I love to write about the thrilling tussle between the National League and American League throughout the season, although I may have a fondness for a particular Yankees icon named Alex Rodriguez.
