Well, you do not always get what you want and the New York Yankees know this, too. The former World Series champions had a fruitful off-season until now, with most of the decisions in their favor. However, that changed after Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s move to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Notably, the AL East team hoped to get the 25-year-old to complete their off-season run for a stable squad. But that is not the case, and the Yanks are back to where they left their 2023 campaign.

It was not a great last season for the 27-time champions on the defensive front. Their pitching rotation suffered setbacks with injuries and inconsistency on the mound, which forced them for options in the market. Yamamoto, with a brilliant season, matched the requirement and was pursued. However, the deal did not go through. They will have to search in the market. But are there enough options available? What would the possible rotation be for them in 2024, if they get any of them?

Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s Los Angeles Calling Leaves New York Searching

After a forgetful 2023 campaign, the ongoing off-season came with some respite and opportunities for teams to correct their mistakes, including the New York Yankees. With the signing of Juan Soto, they achieved it on the offensive front. However, they missed the same in defense with Yamamoto’s move to Los Angeles. Had the 25-year-old signed with the Yankees, things would have been different but his move has left them searching for a perfect fit in the market with many stars shining.

Will it be Jordan Montgomery, Blake Snell, Shota Imanaga, or anyone else? With the Japanese ace now a Dodger, the Yankees have 2023 Champion Jordan Montgomery in the picture to fulfill their requirements. Notably, after an average first half, Montgomery excelled in the second, finishing the 2023 season with an ERA of 3.20 and 166 strikeouts.

However, his sour past with the Yankees can be a big problem. Another option is the 2023 NL Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell. The pitcher with 234 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.25 is a perfect fit and can make it up a great partnership on the mound. And if not him, the Yankees can sign Shota Imanaga, Corbin Burnes, and Dylan Cease. With the Yankees needing only one, the options are great to add to the rotation for the 2024 season.

New York Yankees 2024 Rotation With or Without New Signings

The Yankees have enough options on the mound, but their search for a perfect partner for Gerrit Cole is incomplete. Notably, if the current roster is checked, they look settled with the lineup. With Cole taking the pole position, Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortes, Clarke Schmidt, and Clayton Beeter make the starting pitching lineup. Plus, the availability of Jonathan Lasagna, Tommy Kahnle, and a few others makes a great team.
