Golf is the favorite sport to play for most athletes after retirement. Derek Jeter, an MLB legend, is one of those athletes who often participates in charity golf events. It also allows famous personalities across sports to have friendly battles in between. This same happened in the latest charity event, Derek Jeter Invitational, organized from May 11-13, Bahamas, by Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation.

Multiple famous personalities, including the likes of DJ D-Nice, writer Angie Martinez, Rob Gronkowski, CC Sabathia, Joey Fatone, and other superstars, participated in the tournament. Rob Gronkowski challenged Derek Jeter to hit the green at his course!

Former NFL player Rob Gronkowski was also part of the event. When Jeter was taking his stance to hit the golf ball, Gronkowski threw a challenge at him to hit the green. It was in the video shared by the playerstribune on their Instagram handle with the caption, ” Let’s talk smack with @gronk for five minutes at the Derek Jeter Invitational”

Gronkowski was heard saying, “We got Jeets going right here. He’s got a little advantage always playing on this course here in the Bahamas. It’s his charity event. You got to hit the green, Derek. Look at that. Nice smooth swing. Wow. Wow. He missed the green at his home course. I got to hit the green.”

Gronkowski last played in the NFL during the 2021 season for the New England Patriots. He recorded 802 receiving yards averaging 14.6 yards per attempt, and 55 receptions, along with six touchdowns to his name. Gronkowski had a decade-old career until he retired in 2022. He is known to be a great friend of NFL star Tom Brady since 2010.

Derek Jeter and his father, Dr. Charles Jeter, established the Turn 2 Foundation in 1996. It aims to inspire young individuals to adopt healthy lifestyles by avoiding drugs and alcohol and to “Turn 2” healthier alternatives. The foundation is under the presidency of Sharlee Jeter, sister of Derek Jeter.

The foundation invests in multiple ventures to create outlets that promote and reward academic excellence, leadership development, and positive behavior. To add to the noble cause, they organized Derek Jeter Invitational last year. After a successful event last year, the foundation would like to take this event to newer heights.
