Greg Allen is back in New York from Boston!

Greg Allen played for the Yankees during the 2021 season. He then moved to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The New York Yankees shared the news of his return after a deal with the Boston Red Sox. It stated, “The New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired OF Greg Allen from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for minor league RHP Diego Hern?ndez and cash considerations.”

This is not the first time these two franchises have been involved in a sudden trade. They also traded Adam Ottavino in 2021 to the Boston Red Sox. The Yanks, however, also had a sour phase where they did not make any trade for 14 years straight. This trade also adds to the rivalry between the two teams, which started in the year 1920 with the trade of Babe Ruth.
