In the latest conversation with Harry Stebbings, Alex Rodriguez gave an insight into his business rules. On the question, “What does a great deal making look like and mean to you?”, Rodriguez answered, ” Well, I think is empathy and compassion, right, really connecting with the seller or the buyer.”

Rodriguez said understanding the need of the user is critical, and no business can be successful without proper knowledge of the user’s needs. A-Rod focused on the importance of good listening and added that one can be a hardworking guy, but if you are not a good listener, you would miss the right deal.

He also shared his personal experiences with great entrepreneurs. A-rod said, “And I think working from there and then working backward is really important. But also being a good listener, I think so many people are busy with, you know, running their mouths. I found that the greatest entrepreneurs and the greatest negotiators are people that are good listeners and then try to work out a structure.”
