“Mr. Jeter, this is the police commissioner. Would you like a picture [with him]?” asked the police officer accompanying Kerik. Known for his charm and charisma, Jeter’s smile was enough to add a touch of humor to the moment.

He took hold of the police officer. “I’ve got a couple of parking tickets I’d like to talk to you about,” Jeter said with a playful grin as he glided past the commissioner. The highlight of that night was something else

Jeter’s infectious reverie didn’t end there. He was desperately searching for his parents in the crowd, to share his unsurmountable joy with them.

His excitement was palpable as he scanned the crowd for his parents. As soon as he spotted them, he took off in a sprint. His excitement radiated off him as he dashed up the dugout steps toward them. Standing on the warning track, Jeter’s parents beamed with pride as he approached. He enveloped them both in long, tight hugs and planted a kiss on each of their cheeks. The crowd, sensing the special moment, serenaded Jeter’s name in a chorus of cheers.
