It has been a tough season for the Texas Rangers’ ace player Jacob deGrom. Currently, he is nursing an elbow injury and has not played since the last week of April. Though the 34-year-old was hopeful of returning soon to the field, the situation has become more unfavorable for his return. He is now slated to have Tommy John Surgery, which will keep him out for the season.

Emotional Jacob deGrom talks about his season-ending injury!

It has been an untimely end to the season for Jacob because of an elbow injury. The 34-year-old will undergo surgery to repair his ulnar collateral ligament. Given that deGrom had a great start to the season on the mound, the unexpected end has left him in deep pain. It is not what he wanted to face in his first season with the Rangers after signing a contract worth $185 million.

SNY Mets shared the clip as the former Mets star gave a brief about his injury. It read, “Jacob deGrom was emotional talking about his Tommy John Surgery today,”  

In the video, deGrom could be heard saying,

“It’s tough, so but you know I went through this before, and you know I know what it takes to get back. So that’s the goal. Go out there, you know rehab as the best I can and be around to help you know any way I can.”

He then explains that he will continue to do his job as a team player and contribute to team wins by any means he can. Though it has been tough for the experienced pitcher who leaves mid-season with a great start. In six games of the season, deGrom had two wins at an ERA of 2.67. He also claimed 45 strikeouts with a commendable WHIP of 0.76. Now as he leaves with a fine, fans have come shown support.
