It has been an engaging off-season, with some breakthrough deals starting from Juan Soto to Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. However, according to top MLB insider Jon Morosi, teams are looking to add talent to the bullpen, including the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees, pursuing options in the market.
Given that 2023 saw too many clubs struggling with injuries and limited options on the squad, they don’t want a repeat in the upcoming season. This is the main push behind their pursuit of more pitchers with rotation in mind. However, given that the market is vast, teams have to invest wisely. In this case, who could be the prime targets if teams want to make new year signings to test them in spring training?

When it comes to success, stability is necessary, especially when it comes to bullpens. Which is exactly what Jon Morosi discussed in a conversation with the MLB network. “I would say that it is now officially time to get the off-season shopping going if you’re in the bullpen area. Yes, we talked about Yuki Matsui, but Josh Hader is still out there. Robert Stephenson is still out there.”

Apart from that, he placed Jordan Hicks into the mix and said multiple teams will likely fight for these players’ signatures making the next few interesting. “The Angels we know are very involved in the bullpen market. The Rangers have been in there and involved in the bullpen market. So have the Yankees. So I think that group of very aggressive teams could account for these three names that I’ve mentioned.”

However, these teams won’t be alone in the market and will require something extra from teams to get what they want. For that, they have to offer whatever the player asks for. But if looked at with the 2024 season in mind, this does not look like a difficult thing to do.
