It’s the second half of the MLB season with Yankees languishing last in the AL East. It has happened even after a big budget and the squad, which made the favorites do well this season. Because of it, the team has remained in the ambit of criticism, which increased after Brian Cashman’s inaction during the recently closed trade window. But the team is looking to address the situation.

The Yankees should have signed offensive players. And with Anthony Rizzo going to the IL, complications have increased. But according to the latest reports, manager Aaron Boone has found a former Yankees player as the injured star’s replacement. Though it goes with fans’ popular demand for signing players, it has generated little interest from them. Reacting to this potential signing update, they have shared their apprehensions in the open.

Skipper Aaron Boone Smiles at the Idea of Signing Luke Voit

Teams love to re-sign their former players if they suit the system and fulfill the requirements. The latest example is Houston Astros, who signed Verlander back from the New York Mets. And the Yankees, who desperately need options to improve the offense, could be another addition to it. Though the trade has ended, a former Yankee, Luke Voit, who is a free agent, could be that one option.

The Yankees skipper Aaron Boone, who has been under pressure, smiled at this idea, indicating a reunion. Joe Randazzo shared an update regarding this on Twitter.

Quoting journalist Randy Miller, he wrote, “Before the Yankees’ 4-3 win over the Astros on Thursday night, NJ Advance Media asked manager Aaron Boone if his club had interest in Voit. His response was response was very interesting. Smiling from ear to ear, Boone answered, We’ll see, we’ll see.”

Notably, Boone’s agreement came hours after Voit asked for a release from the New York Mets, becoming a free agent. Though he missed scoring at the start of the 2023 season with the Milwaukee Brewers, which made him move to the Triple-A, he has done better in the past week. He set a Syracuse franchise record with home runs in six consecutive games, showing a change in his form.

With Rizzo out and his familiarity with the system could be a great addition. But fans think otherwise.
