The Atlanta Braves are out of the ongoing MLB World Series contention. They were one of the favorites to win the World Series this year. But after an unexpected postseason series loss, the Braves are far from the playing scene now. However, a star performer from the Braves’ ranks is hogging the limelight for another reason.
The Braves began this year’s MLB season as the defending champions. They won the World Series last year by defeating the Houston Astros. The regular season went fine for the Braves’ title defense campaign as they picked up their performances towards the end. Having surpassed the zonal rank toppers, the New York Mets, on aggregate, the Braves surprisingly won the zonal crown.

Thus, the Braves clinched playoff berths through direct entry while the arch-rivals Mets had to seek wildcard permits. But the Braves got shockingly ousted in a National League postseason series by wildcard entries, the Philadelphia Phillies. However, a newcomer to the Braves’ frame is still relevant this year. That happens to be the National League’s prime Rookie of the Year Award contender Michael Harris II.
MLB rookie put on a parallel line with Los Angeles Dodgers star
Michael Harris II made his MLB debut for the Braves as an outfielder in 2022. His stellar performances in his debut year have already made him the leading contender for his respective league’s rookie honors. He concluded the ongoing season with 19 home runs, 64 RBIs, 0.853 OPS, and 5.3 WAR at 0.297 average. However, Harris recently got compared to Los Angeles Dodgers’ star slugger Mookie Betts for an altogether different reason.
