This means that the Padres offered Turner a deal worth more than the $341 million deal that Francisco Lindor signed with the New York Mets.

This deal is a huge win for the Phillies as they have managed to sign a player who just made the 1st team All-MLB. When talking about Turner, the ex-Dodgers SS is a versatile player who can play at both shortstop and 2nd base.
The Phillies made it all the way to the World Series in 2022 and will be looking to build on that in 2023. Turner might be the last piece that they need to win next year.

It will be interesting to see how Turner plays this upcoming season. And how the Phillies perform with their newest acquisition.
Why did Turner choose the Phillies over the Padres?
Trea Turner turned down the Padres’ record-breaking deal to sign with the Phillies. Although it may seem confusing at first, there are several plausible explanations. He is rather good friends with Bryce Harper, and that might have pushed him to sign with the Phillies. Additionally, he may not have been guaranteed to play shortstop if he’d signed with the Padres as they also have Fernando Tatis Jr. for the same position.
