Alex Rodriguez shines more than the rest in the MLB’s modern history. The ex-New York Yankees shortstop was a star that became the synonym for hard work, success, failures, and comebacks. And although there have been a lot of years since Alex stopped playing, those principles continue to empower his life. It is also visible in his Minnesota Timberwolves deal, which he fulfilled after hurdles and difficulties. But even after all the positives, there is a part of which the 2009 World Series winner is not proud of.
It is the change in sports with over-reliance on technology and analytics. The NBA team part-owner, who is preparing for the new NBA season, is unhappy because of it. Rodriguez has criticized them while addressing that these changes have reduced the role of coaches who play a significant role in shaping careers. The ex-baseballer has brought a reference from the past to back his claims. But while doing so, he has also hinted towards taking up a role in the future to make a similar mark that made him a better athlete and MLB superstar.

Alex Rodriguez was recently a part of an episode of The Rich Dad Channel. On the show, he discussed many things with Robert Kiyosaki including the role of coaches in shaping his career. While advocating his passion for coaching and mentorship, Alex said, “I had three coaches. And those three coaches changed my entire professional career. Because in many ways they were more than coaches, they were mentors, they were father figures, big brothers.”
While taking the reference of the present, he added, “And I think when you think about where sports is going today. So much emphasis is based on analytics that I think the game, and not just one sport, but every sport has created a blind spot with the importance of coaching.”
Alex then focused that we should look at the role of the coach who can make a relevant change. Given that Rodriguez has mentored minor league players, it might be a hint towards him taking an MLB coaching job. Will he do it? Only time will tell. But one thing is clear, Alex will focus on implementing the same thought process as he prepares for the NBA season.
