There are very few words to describe the New York Yankees’ season so far. One can call it injury-plagued, inconsistent, or poorly managed, as every assumption fits in the conversation. Even though it’s a new start to the season with the second half, the same problems still exist in the Pinstripes clubhouse. The Yankees won the game against the Rockies but lost Josh Donaldson because of a calf injury in the seventh innings. It would leave another place on the team to fill, and the concerns surrounding the future are there.

The reason for their happiness could be the chances of fulfillment of their popular demand, which was ignored by the management before. The outfielder Josh Donaldson had a poor game. Not only did he fail to strike the ball, but got injured while running. It has added another misery for him and the team. But the entire episode has opened the doors for Oswald Peraza, who could be filling the boots of Donaldson. Notably, Peraza has an average of 0.261 and OPS of 0.847 in the minor league. He has scored 12 HRs with 28 RBIs and could be a great addition to the Yankees.

Talkin’ Yanks shared a Twitter post related to the incident. It was more inclined toward Peraza’s inclusion in the squad. While quoting Journalist Jack Curry, they wrote, “The “strong belief” is that Oswald Peraza would be recalled if Josh Donaldson goes on the IL.”

If the exact happens, it would put Donaldson in a difficult situation. He has failed to justify his $92 million contract and has been poor this season. Donaldson is averaging 0.142 after scoring 10 HRs and 15 RBIs at an OPS of 0.659. This has made him very unpopular amongst the Yankees’ fanbase. Their response to his injury update added more to their anger against him.
