Derek Jeter and Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez are two of the prominent personalities in Major League baseball. Both have spent a large amount of time at the New York Yankees. Having played for over 11 years together, A-Rod and Jeter were two of the most popular players in MLB.

However, there was a point when the two did not share a good relationship between them. And it was quite obvious. Because both were top players playing for the same franchise. However, it did not last for very long. Being great professionals in the game, they moved forward and focused on their baseball careers.

Unlike Alex Rodriguez, Jeter has played only for the New York Yankees in his entire MLB career. Known for leadership, the Yankees legend always put his team ahead of himself. And that was probably the main reason he captained the Yankees for a very long time.

When Derek Jeter got reminded of his 20-year-old beef with Alex Rodriguez

In 2017, Jeter and A-Rod sat together for an interview with Bob Pisani of CNBC. The former Yankees players were attending the BTIG annual charity event. Alex was representing the boys and Girls Club of Miami, where he also learned to play baseball, while Jeter was there to represent his Turn 2 Foundation.

It was a rare scenario to see Jeter sitting with A-Rod since they did not share a good relationship for a long time. When Bob Pisani asked how do they feel sitting together? Jeter gave him a perfect reply. He said, “You’re bringing up stories from 20 years ago.”

Rodriguez also behaved friendly with Jeter when Pisani asked if he is a friend of Jeter. “Shortstop and third baseman are exactly how we were back in the day…” Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez said.

Looking back at their playing days, A-Rod was more of an individual, while Jeter was a team man. After winning five World Series with the Yankees, Jeter bid farewell to the game in the 2014 season.

Considering his dedication and loyalty to the team, the New York Yankees retired Jeter’s iconic jersey no. 2 to honor his legacy. In 2020, Major League Baseball also recognized Jeter’s contribution to the game and honored him with the Hall of Fame induction.
