For hardcore baseball fans, one team is always closer to their heart than others. But even if someone doesn’t know the first thing about the sport, chances are they’ve heard of the New York Yankees. Arguably one of the most popular features of American culture, the Yankees are sometimes synonymous with MLB. But with the world of social media gaining steam, there’s another team that is giving tough competition to the Bronx Bombers in popularity. For those unversed, that team is the Savannah Bananas, founded by baseball lover Jesse Cole.
If one isn’t intrigued by their name at first glance, maybe their antics on the field will grab their attention. From flaming bats to breaking out into dance, the Bananas have done it all. And that is exactly what has made them a TikTok sensation at nearly 4 million followers, which is 3 million more than the Yankees. And the most recent stunt on the field has people talking yet again.

One of them was a group of people sitting in a room all engaged in some activity, except they were absolutely still. A camera moved around them, capturing everyone. This is what the Bananas’ latest antic on the field reminds viewers of.

The official Twitter for the team posted a thread showing a Bananas player and a Party Animals player standing absolutely still, locked in a showdown of who would move first. For hours! 2 hours and 23 minutes, to be exact. What are they trying to prove?! Fans were still hanging around hours later to find out.
Twitter raised some interesting questions regarding the players’ still state of being
Baseball fans were understandably confused. But most were curious. After all, standing still for so long isn’t easy. A human body has needs and fans questioned the team about them immediately. For an organization that was created for the sole purpose of entertainment, the Bananas are not disappointing on any front.
