Derek Jeter only plays for the ring!

The Yankees legend has always shared that winning the championship was always the priority. The same was reflected in his play during the season in 2009, which made him win the fifth title of his career.

“It was a fun year. I remember going into the franchise and thinking about the team. I have played for a long time. And to win the championship and top it all off, it could not have been a better script,” Derek recalled during one of his interviews.

But he always talked about the team effort and showed the same while holding on to the ultimate prize. “Our team went on the field. We played the game the right way. We deserve to be standing here right now. This is good to be back. This is where we belong.” said Jeter during the presentation ceremony.

Jeter focused that it was all about the team and it deserves all the credit for the success. As the commentator said,” For Derek, this season was all about the team and the rings his teammates all got to wear.”

The MLB legend played like a champ from the start of the season. In 153 games of the season, Jeter scored 107 runs, including 18 home runs at an astonishing average of 0.334 with an OPS of 0.871. His performance during the playoffs made all the difference, with an average of 0.407. All the effort he put in alongside his teammates proved crucial for the team.

As the result of a successful year, the legend was bound to get his due. He won over five awards, including the Gold Glove Award, Silver Slugger Award, and AL Hank Aaron Award. Even though, he missed winning the championship for the rest of his playing career but has become an example of hard work and dedication.
