It’s astounding to see how the tables turn with the passage of time. As the Philadelphia Phillies endured a discouraging loss in Game 2 of the National League Division Series, they braced for a superb comeback. Three days ago, hinting at their 5-4 loss, the Atlanta Braves taunted the Phillies’ star player. But little did they know that it would backfire – and how!

As Bryce Harper blundered with this base-running gaffe followed by Trea Turner’s missteps, the Phillies blew their solid 4-0 lead. It essentially ended the game for the Phillies. Their loss at Truist Park led to an massive cheers and high spirits in the Braves’ locker room. But what caught the eyes of people was the shade-throwing jab, “Atta-Boy Harper”.

Bryce Harper’s sassy move

That one offhand taunt ignited an unmatched vigor for the Phillies to pin down the Braves, especially in Orlando Arcia, who sneered at Harper. And with a heightened sense of determination, they delivered! They came on hard and strong, sweeping the Braves out of the playoff contention with a 3-1 victory at Citizens Bank Park. The Atlanta Braves shockingly stood eliminated! But what’s the fun in such a twist without a little drama? Bryce Harper still had to dot some i’s and cross some t’s.

On Wednesday night, in Game 3, Harper got back with the performance of his life. He blasted two home runs to give the Phillies a 10-2 victory and a 2-1 series lead. After each homer, Harper rounded the bases and stared down Arcia. A solid comeback indeed! Later, the 30-year-old said, “I stared right at him”. If that isn’t a sassy move, then what is?

Arcia learned the hard way that he had provoked the bear. Later in Game 3, Harper was seen wearing a Deion Sanders T-shirt in Citizens Bank Park with his share of jab. But he said there was no reason behind it. However, fans on social media believe Harper wore the shirt because Arcia “made it personal” after his Game 2 remarks.

Fans could not get enough of the drama unfurling on and off the pitch. They took to social media to chat about it and the comments flooded in.
