Barry Bonds describes himself as not being the ideal ‘clubhouse guy’

Bonds was known for his distinct personality off and off the field. He also had limited interactions with others and always catered to life with seriousness. Though it was his real side, but hampered him not only in his relations but also in professional work, including business deals. Recently Bonds opened up on this narrative around him.

While in “R2C2” podcast with Ryan Ruocco and CC Sabathia, Bonds shared, “I wasn’t the best clubhouse guy, that’s for damn sure, but on the baseball field, I took my walks, I took my hits, I did everything I could for my teammates to have the opportunity to do his job.”

Even though Barry did a lot for his team on the ground, they did not give him enough credit. Accepting it to be the case, he added, “Because it’s a business, and people don’t understand that I took it as a business.” Most teams, everyone thought I was being a di**, but I really — I wasn’t at all. I love you, I respect you, I would help you in any aspect.”

The comments from Bonds indeed hold value, given the accomplishments he had amidst all the criticism.

Bonds achieved everything in his MLB career

Even though Bonds was a conservative personality, he expressed himself well on the field. He played over 2900 games and scored 2227 runs. He also contributed 1996 RBIs and 762 home runs at an OPS of 1.051. Bond was an impactful figure who contributed to many wins. He also made it to the All-star teams 14 times and was named NL MVP seven times. 

Bonds could be criticized for his off-field activities, but he would continue to inspire the upcoming generation with his on-field records.
