Who Has Won the Most World Series MVP Awards?

The World Series Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award is given to those who show excellent form and resilience, leaving the most impact on their team throughout the World Series. It celebrates the players who rise to the occasion under immense pressure and deliver performances that are worthy of being remembered. The trophy then forever serves as the paramount symbol of their achievement and excellence in the field. This begs a question, who’s that one player who has won the title most times?

Johnny Podres of the Brooklyn Dodgers won the inaugural WS MVP award in 1955. Many significant names have been related to it ever since. Legendary sluggers like Bob Gibson, Don Larsen, Corey Seager, and Stephen Strasburg have had the honor to call the title theirs. But there are a select few who’ve received it more than once.

There are only three people in MLB’s history to have won the World Series MVP multiple times. The initiator was Sandy Koufax, who won it twice while playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers—once in 1963, then again in 1965. The Bonus Baby was also the first player to win three CY Young awards. ’65 saw Sandy strike out 382 (!) batters in a single season, the highest by a pitcher at that time.

The second twofold winner on the list is Bob Gibson, the St. Louis Cardinals pitcher. He won his first in 1964 after pitching three complete game victories. Following that, he secured the MVP win by pitching three complete games with an astounding 1.00 ERA and 26 strikeouts in his 1967 stint.

The final slugger on the list, Reggie Jackson, played for the Oakland Athletics (1973) and the New York Yankees (1977) during his double wins in the given years. The ’73 performance boasted a smooth homer and two doubles in Athletics Game 6. That was then followed by five homers across the ’77 season.

Although it is tough to follow in their footsteps, there are many prospective players in the game now. So the fans must not lose hope of seeing their choice of slugger win a double just yet!

To MVP or not to MVP?

MVPs who are still active in the scene are some of the current favorites of the fans. The list includes shortstop Corey Seager of the Dodgers, rookie Jeremy Peña, and outfielder George Springer of the Houston Astros; outfielder and designated hitter Jorge Soler of the Atlanta Braves; pitcher Stephen Strasburg of the Washington Nationals; and catcher Salvador Pérez of the Kansas City Royals, along with San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner.

This might make a fan ask: Are there any prospective MVP candidates playing in this World Series? Well, yes, there is… But can you guess who they are?

Well, you guessed right! They are the ‘telling twins’ of the Texas Rangers fame—Corey Seager and Adolis García, and the ‘dynamic duo’ of the Arizona Diamondbacks game—Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte. All four of them have been showing ecstatic forms throughout the series. So, there’s no saying who’s going to come out the victor. But whoever it is, they will be a worthy contender!
