The MLB has revolved around the narrative of Shohei Ohtani since his debut. The Los Angeles Angels star has been a winner at the plate and on the mound. Because of his continued performances, he ranks at the top of talented players in MLB, being in demand from multiple MLB teams. As the two-way phenom approaches free agency, this demand has only increased. Despite the increasing competition, contract expectations are on the rise. Nevertheless, the New York Mets appear unfazed, a sentiment reflected in the recent update concerning their owner, Steve Cohen.

Given the estimates that Ohtani will earn $500 million with his next contract, all eyes have been on the teams who could match it. Now, owner Steve Cohen has added another angle to it with the most extensive offer on the table. But is it worth it? Fans think otherwise.

However, the deal does not happen due to the 2021 MVP’s commitment to finish the season. But now, when he is out of the season and reaching free agency, the Mets have become active again.
