He remarked, “I’m excited to be joining a great team that’s already moving in the right direction“. 

Before the Yankees released Dillon, amid severe offensive difficulties, he had been the team’s principal hitting coach since the 2022 season began. Lawson was a part of the Yankees franchise since 2018. At the time he had taken over as minor-league hitting coordinator. Though his stint in the Bronx was cut short quite prematurely, he is all set to contribute to Boston.
