There has been nothing good for the New York Yankees this MLB season. They have struggled badly since the start because of the injuries. It included Captain Aaron Judge, which brought inconsistency. And because of it, the Pinstripes had to take some tough decisions, including the DFA of Aaron Hicks. However, things did not improve for the Yankees, and third baseman Josh Donaldson has become the latest player to face the axe. Even though the team is struggling, the decision has made a section of fans happy.

The Yanks started their season with great promise. They expected both Hicks and Donaldson to fulfill their duties. But they failed to do so, attracting a lot of criticism. They replaced Hicks, months back. Donalson had the management’s favor, which has finally ended. And fans are seeing it as a glorious future by terming it an early Christmas. But there is also some conjecture over this claim, which was visible in some fan voices that followed the echoes of joy.

The New York Yankees Released Josh Donaldson From the Squad

The New York Yankees released Josh Donaldson in the second year of his $92 million contract. Notably, it ended his time in New York prematurely after his trade from the Minnesota Twins to the Yankees. They released an update on Twitter. It read, “Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees released INF Josh Donaldson from the roster.”

He failed to perform to the expectations. He finished last season with an average of 0.222 and an OPS of 0.682.  Donaldson failed to improve his stats in the current season but also saw a great downfall. In 33 games, he has scored only ten home runs and 13 runs, while averaging just 0.142 at an OPS of 0.659. It proved too costly for him as he faced a situation with Aaron Hicks.

Aaron Hicks, who was on a $70 Million contract with the Yankees, was sent for an assignment. It came after he recorded an average of 0.188 with nine runs in 28 games. Though he changed it with his move to the Orioles, multiple injuries have put a break to his run. Because of this, fans think that the 2009 champions made the right decision.

It was visible in their latest reaction as ” AAROK HICKS AND JOSH DONALDSON GONE IN THE SAME SEASON THIS IS CHRISTMAS.” But few fans are unhappy with this comparison.
