The Philadelphia Phillies fan base is not one to undermine. Apart from the fact that the Phillies’ Phandom is as fierce as ever, they are not short of other sports-icon supporters. While the city is home to several sports franchises, fun crossovers happen every so often as a gesture of brotherly love. Lately, some big names from the world of football showed up to cheer for the Phillies.

Game 6 of the Arizona Diamondbacks vs. the Philadelphia Phillies was a stage to welcome the Philadelphia Eagles folks. The fandom of the Eagles, too, is massive and enthusiastic, so much so that the police force had to escort the Diamondbacks skipper throughout. Despite the strong backing that the Phillies had, their result was sad.

Eagles center Jason Kelce and offensive tackle Lane Johnson showed their support at Citizens Bank Park on Monday night as the Phillies looked to defeat the Diamondbacks and secure a World Series trip. In a tweet, @MLBLife posted, A.J. Brown and Julio Jones, who too joined the bandwagon for some Phillies-Phun. They pulled up wearing the now ‘signature’ Phillies overalls to the game and hung out with the Phillies crowd. And, Philadelphians, being Philadelphians, stood up for one another in spite of suffering a 1-5 loss to Arizona.

After the Phillies suffered a devastating defeat in Game 6, tying the series 3-3, they now get ready to play Game 7 at Citizens Bank Park opposite the D-Backs. Phillies fans are hopeful that Tuesday night will be the night they eliminate the Snakes from Philadelphia. In the midst of this loss, one interesting tidbit stood out.

The Philadelphia Police Department handled the scene swiftly and skillfully, owing to their experience in handling major sporting events. Police officers carefully led the Diamondbacks’ vehicle through the crowd of Eagles supporters with their lights on and sirens blaring. It was quite a sight to see the baseball players, dressed in their Diamondbacks outfits, as patrol cars and motorcycle cops accompanied them. With that, one understands the level of dedication Philadelphia has for sports.

It is worthy to note that the Eagles’ support for baseball is not one-sided. Both the Eagles and the Phillies have been having a great time partying at each other’s stadiums. Phillies’ right fielder Nick Castellanos was a spectator at The Linc on Sunday night during the Eagles versus the Miami Dolphins game was the latest instance.
