“Highlight of the Red Sox Season”: Rob Gronkowski’s First Pitch Has Boston Fans Up In Arms Against Their Home Team

Want to turn a ceremonial pitch into an amazing moment? Leave it to Gronk. The former New England Patriots tight end and current NFL on FOX analyst came along with his signature flair to Fenway Park. On Monday, much to the amusement of the Boston Red Sox fans, and delight from the Cleveland Guardians, the Red Sox dealt with a 4-10 loss. And fans had a strong opinion on this. 

Forget the usual assortment of wobbly throws and well-meaning flings that land in the dirt. Rob Gronkowski showed up with a unique first pitch in mind. He concentrated inner touchdown celebration, the iconic “Gronk Spike,” and pitched the ball not towards the plate. But this turned into a deliberate display of Gronk’s playful personality.

Following the “spike,” Gronkowski erupted in a celebratory fist pump. And the crowd roared with approval. He went on to share a playful chest bump with Red Sox’s Tanner Houck, who was supposed to be the recipient of the pitch. Well, this wasn’t Gronk’s first time using a pregame ceremony as his own personal highlight reel.

Gronkowski’s antics transcend the baseball diamond.  He famously spiked the puck in the midst of a Boston Bruins game after the Patriots’ Super Bowl XLIX victory. With that he proved his love for dramatic celebration Monday’s first pitch was yet another proof that that Gronk knows how to have fun. On one hand, some celebrities dread the ceremonial first pitch, Gronkowski embraces it as an opportunity.

But despite have such a fun beginning to the game, it was not the case with the Red Sox. They lost to the Cleveland Guardians. Fans immediate took to social media to share how they felt about the entire “Gronk Spike” and the Red Sox’s loss.

In no time, social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit were flooded with comments along the lines that this is perhaps the main highlight of the season for the Red Sox. Well, after all the passionate Red Sox fans don’t miss an opportunity to give feedback, no matter the occasion. Here’s what fans said.

One fan was blatant about what they thought of the season for the Boston Red Sox.
“This actually might be the highlight of the Red Sox season.”

Another fans seconded the same feelings.
“This stings because it is so true 🤣. I’m going to go cry now in a corner.” 

Amid some critiquing comments, there came some praises for Gronk.
One among many fans said, “This man is a regional treasure”

While most of the fans appreciated Rob, there were some folks who called him “cringe”
“He’s super cringe lol. But I think that’s sorta the weird appeal you know? He does cringe stuff but did you see him play football? He was amazing. And he seems like a nice person just enjoying life.”

Amid more some comments about the Red Sox’s not-so-great season 2024, there were more comments about Gronk’s larger-than-life personality.
Nobody has more fun than this man. 😁

While the “Gronk Spike” was a breath of fresh air for the fans, there is still a question about what happens to the Red Sox. One can only wait and watch how the season unfolds.
