In all the sports around the world, commentators are really integral. They help us get insights into the respective sport and often analyze the game to the viewer’s benefit. Therefore, it’s often a sad day when commentators part ways with their respective organizations. Bellator CEO Scott Coker was on hand to answer why they parted ways with Mike Goldberg.

Goldberg was widely recognized as one of the greatest commentators in the business, and it will be hard to imagine the organization without him. He was working with the UFC since 1997 and joined Bellator in 2017.

Coker talked to MMA Junkie about this and expressed his admiration for Goldberg. “Mike is a, one he’s a friend, and he’s been the voice of MMA for such a long time along with Mauro,” he said.

He mentioned Mike’s partner Mauro Ranallo and reminded everyone about when Ranallo was commentating with Bas Rutten. Unlike Goldberg, Ranallo has an extensive CV as he has commentated for WWE, Invicta UFC, and even boxing.

“So, at one time, we had the two best on the planet,” Coker said.

Coker finally said that it was a decision taken by the production and that there’s no certainty. He hinted at a potential reunion in the future with Goldberg and added that the future is wide open.

Scott Coker talks about the release of Bellator rankings

Bellator MMA President Scott Coker said that he understood the fact that there were going to be discrepancies in the rankings. However, he looked on the bright side and added that he was excited after seeing it on paper.

“What I’m looking forward to is when these fighters that haven’t fought yet fight and we can get them into the rankings. Like, the Yoel Romeros. Like, the ‘Rumble’ Johnsons, the people who had just come on board in the light heavyweight tournament,” he said.
