Kamaru Usman has been an extremely active champion so far in 2021. The world is only halfway into 2021 and ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has defended his belt more than any other champion. Both fights have been extremely impressive displays as he earned knockouts over the likes of Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal. However, as a champion, there is never a dearth of challenges, especially if you’re the champion of one of the most talent-stacked divisions in the UFC. A potential fight between Covington and Usman would depend on Usman as he is the champion and calls the shots. If he decides to fight again this year, it will most likely be against Covington. However, if he decides to sit out for the rest of this year, Covington might be forced to fight someone else in the meantime.
