Luck has not been on Marvin Vettori’s side in his past few bouts, as he has had to deal with last-minute cancellations and opponent changes. And this weekend it was no different, as ‘The Italian Dream’ was initially set to fight Darren Till. However, the Englishman suffered a broken collarbone and had to withdraw from the fight.

Holland, as he has done so many times in his UFC career, offered to step in on short notice. He took the fight just weeks after his lackluster display against Derek Brunson.

The fight started off well for Holland as he maintained the distance using kicks and stuffing takedowns. It was something he could not do in his last fight. However, towards the end of the first round, ‘The Italian Dream’ secured a takedown and landed some good damage.

The second round was all Marvin, as he took Holland down and kept the fight there for most of the round. More of the same followed in round three. Vettori dominated the last two rounds with lethal ground and pound to secure a unanimous decision and move to 5-0. In the process, he set a record for the most takedowns landed in a fight.
