This could turn out to be a piece of bad news for the English team as according to rules of ICC if no play is possible on the match day and the reserve day, the team with the higher position in the group stage advances.

While Australia finished second after the league stages behind India, England finished in the third place.

The forecast for Birmingham on Thursday predicts light showers during the morning with the match scheduled to start at 10.30 am. However, the weather suggests a clearer sky later in the afternoon. If play could not be possible on Thursday, the forecast for the reserve day of Friday is worse with light showers throughout the day.
