One must wonder if Rich Energy is taunting Murphy’s Law so see how much they can get themselves into trouble. In a similar vein to Haas F1 boss, Guenther Steiner’s words, the best that their sponsor could bring to the battle was a shovel – to dig the hole they’re in even deeper

Now, another day have passed and a new sign of trouble has made itself known, and added to their ongoing saga. They have tweeted to say Red Bull have filed a copyright infringement claim.

It has been a torrid week for poor old Rich Energy, starting off with a claim that they were no longer title sponsors of Haas. However, the American team were quick to deny such an absurd claim. Next on the list was William Storey no longer being the chief executive after selling his majority stake and a subsequent rebrand to Lightning Volt. Capping everything off is the fact that they are now facing a second copyright infringement claim.

Rich Energy tweeted early on Thursday to say that ‘Red Bull are taking William Storey to court’ even though the attached document names both Rich Energy and Storey as defendants.

The document reads: ‘The plaintiff alleges copyright infringement against the defendants in relation to the use of identical and similar symbols to those of the plaintiff’s well-known brands Red Bull and Gives you Wing in the advertising of their energy drinks.’

The energy drinks manufacturer have already lost one copyright claim recently, with UK courts ruling that Rich Energy’s stag logo infringed the copyright of British bicycle brand Whyte Bikes’ logo. As a result, the Haas F1 team have been forced to remove the stag logo from their cars on multiple occasions. Their cause has certainly not been helped by their drivers’ poor performances.
