REUTERS – World number two Andy Murray was satisfied with the start to his season after romping past France’s Kenny de Schepper 6-2 6-2 at the Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia on Monday. Murray, who led Britain to their first Davis Cup triumph in 79 years just over a month ago, took under an hour to seal victory at the mixed team event. “I played well,” he told reporters. “Everything was working pretty good. I was able to finish a lot of the points up at the net. “It’s quite a quick surface here so if you can get the first strike in in the rallies it’s quite easy to sort of stay on top of the point. “I enjoy it here and that’s why I keep coming back. I’ll be back next year as well.” Murray, who is using the event to tune up for this month’s Australian Open, will next meet Australian number one Nick Kyrgios on Wednesday. <h3><strong>Nick Kyrgios 2022: Net Worth, Salary and Endorsements</strong></h3>
Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios was first thrust into the limelight when he defeated <a href="https://www.essentiallysports.com/tag/rafael-nadal/">Rafael Nadal</a> in 2014 at Wimbledon. As a result, he became the first male newcomer to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals since Florian Mayer in 2004.

However, Nick Kyrgios has been fined several times in his career by the ATP. In one of his meltdowns at the Cincinnati Masters 2019, Nick Kyrgios was fined $113,000 for five different instances of unsportsmanlike conduct by the ATP.

During the match with <a href="https://www.essentiallysports.com/tag/karen-khachanov/">Karen Khachanov</a>, Kyrgios was penalized with a point for unsportsmanlike conduct and was fined $20,000. He was also fined $3000 for leaving the court without the permission of the Chair Umpire and was deemed to have gone to the washroom.

However, he didn't go to the washroom and instead went and smashed his racquets inside the locker room.

His unsportsmanlike conduct took place on four different occasions and the Australian has been fined $20,000 for three of them and $5,000 for the remaining one.

Nick Kyrgios also used obscene language on the court, for which he was charged with $5000 and had to pay $20,000 for verbal abuse.

In 2022, his on-court tantrums at the Indian Wells and Miami Open cost him around $60,000. Later at Wimbledon, he also received around $17,000 fine for spitting at a fan and for his outrageous behavior during the third-round match against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

He has also been accused of verbal abuse and unsportsmanlike conduct by much of the media and former tennis players, including John McEnroe.

<h3><strong>On-court Achievements</strong></h3>
Kyrgios' resume comes with a grand total of six ATP titles. He claimed six titles in 2016, in Marseille, Atlanta, and Tokyo. All his victories were on hard courts. Kyrgios was the finalist at Cincinnati Masters 2017.

Kyrgios won his maiden title on home soil at the 2018 Brisbane International. His other two ATP titles have come in Acapulco and Washington D.C.

Kyrgios' best Grand Slam result came in 2022 at the Wimbledon Championships, as he reached the final of the tournament. In the final, he lost in four sets against the Serb,<a href="https://www.essentiallysports.com/tag/novak-djokovic/"> Novak Djokovic</a>.

The sport of tennis is said to originate from the 12th century in France. However, at that time, players were using their palms to hit the ball. From the 16th century onwards, rackets began to be put in use.

But it was only from the 19th century onwards that it became a serious game. A typical tennis match consists of games. Players score 15 points to 30 points to 40 points and finally a game. In the event of 40-40, also known as a deuce, a player has to gain an advantage and win the next point to win the game.

The first to reach 6 games with a minimum gap of 2 games wins a set. However, if one player wins 6 games and the other wins 5, the leading player has to win a 7th game before his opponent. In the event of six games all, on certain occasions, a tiebreak is played until a player either reaches 6 games or wins by 2 games if both reach 6 games.

Coming to sets, there are 2 types of matches, 3-set matches and 5-set matches. In the event of the former, if a player earns 2 set wins, he or she wins the match. In the latter's case, it is a case of a player winning at least 3 sets.
