The Tricky Triangle indeed turned out to be tricky for most of the drivers on Sunday’s Cup Series race at Pocono. The Pocono Raceway situated on the backdrop of the luscious green mountains surely had set hopes high for the drivers as well as the fans, as the races in the earlier two races had turned out to be lackluster due to the rain.

It seems that the hype surely lived up to the expectations of the fans, as the race witnessed a chain of wrecks and crashes with just 32 laps into the race and at the beginning of Stage 2. Moreover, it was Trackhouse Racing‘s Daniel Suárez who had to face the brunt of the chain reaction, that occurred in Turn 1.

There is no denying the fact that the tracks of Pocono have always possessed a serious challenge for drivers, owing to its unique banking and three turns, unlike the other traditional tracks of NASCAR. Nevertheless, the drivers were ready to put their best foot forward and earn the stage points as they head towards the playoffs.

However, it seems the hopes of earning the extra brownie points and sliding into the Playoffs came crashing down early for the Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suarez. The #99 Chevrolet driver was running 17th in the race after the majority of the drivers chose to pit their cars before the caution came in.

Although Suarez was running high in the field, he was caught in a crash that saw Joey Logano crashing violently and ending his race, just a few laps after he won stage 1.

Moreover, a contact made by 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace, with whom Suarez had grown up and was part of the driving class of 2012 and was surely a compatriot, sent the #99 Chevrolet reeling on the field and sustaining heavy damage to his car.

Suarez’s apparent disappointment was evident after returning to the garage. He exclaimed, “[…] a racing incident. The crazy thing is that #34 and #23 are the ones that actually wrecked me. They didn’t mean it but, I am racing for points but, it is what it is. We just have to continue to work and go to the race and focus on that one.”

Fans sympathize with Daniel Suarez as the playoff bubble bursts

The incident was surely disheartening for the Trackhouse Racing driver, as he is trying hard to get into playoffs based on points. However, everything seemed to fall flat on its face. Even the fans sympathize with Suarez, who was having a good run ahead of being wrecked out. Many took to Twitter to express their consolation and also hurl their disapproval at Bubba Wallace for making contact with the driver, including SiriusXM radio host Davey Segal and FOX sports reporter Bob Pockrass.

Many wrote after Bob Pockrass updated, “Caution for Suarez and Logano.”

“That might be the end of playoff hopes for Suarez.”

With just 5 more races left, it’s surely a do-or-die situation for the Trackhouse Racing driver. The team so far had a favorable season, and to make the end sweeter, it is Suarez who has to make it to the post-season and join his teammate Ross Chastain. Nonetheless, a momentary collapse of friendship between the two on-track has got fans going.
