In an interview with Dan Le Batard Show, the F1 driver talked about the Austin race from 2021. The Circuit of the Americas race last year was the highest attended F1 race in the United States’s history. Around 400,000 fans attended the three-day event in Texas last year.
9) And if you need another example, just look at the 2021 US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

It’s important to mention that F1 has gained massive popularity in the United States following the massive hit Netflix’s Drive to Survive Docu-series. F1, being mostly a European sport, is the second most popular form of motorsport in the North American country after NASCAR.

As for Lando Norris, the McLaren driver perhaps put the global audience into perspective while making the comments. This is actually true, the global audience for F1 is much bigger than that of NASCAR or IndyCar. However, it’s quite not true in America and that is why fans have come to support their sport.
5) So Liberty Media made several changes to F1.
First, they relaxed rules on social media.
This enabled teams and drivers to start sharing official race footage from Formula 1 on their own channels.

F1 is unwatchable. It’s growing in popularity because of a well-produced, intriguing Netflix show, not because of the product itself

Lol yeah I’ll gladly watch the other two any day over F1. The racing is always better.

Ridiculous. Turn on an indycar race and see people actually competing. F1 drivers gonna F1. @ConorDaly22

NASCAR? Yes. IndyCar is the most competitive series in the world with great personalities. Ask Romain and Marcus how going over to IndyCar from F1 has worked for them.

Should be promoting motorsports as a whole. Typical f1 drivers are just absurdly self centered. Growing Indy/NASCAR can lead to growths in other racing. Growing F1 can lead to growing Indycar. #LastPlaceLando

Ahh yes, because watching F1 drivers not pass an entire race is sooooooo cool. F1 is one of the most boring racing series in the world. There’s no passing the whole race. It’s just follow the leader.
