Transitioning into other disciplines is not uncommon in racing. From 3-time champion, Tony Stewart to part-time Rick Ware Racing driver, Jenson Button, both have tried their luck in various other ventures, be it Indycar and NHRA for Stewart or F1 and NASCAR for the Brit.
While this isn’t a rarity, a former NASCAR driver interviewing an F1 powerhouse is not something you find elsewhere. Now, coming to the talk of the town. Former Stewart-Haas Racing driver and one of the most successful female drivers in the sport, Danica Patrick made an appearance at the Formula 1 scene.
Not as a driver but as an enthusiast presenter and interviewed alongside the 2007 F1 champ, Jenson Button. While NASCAR is headed to Pocono this week, Formula 1 has already reached Hungaroring, where they witnessed champion Lewis Hamilton, blasting his way into the pole position for the first time since 2021. Despite Hamilton returning to his winning ways, the fans are focused on something different, they have badly criticized the 41-year-old for her presentation, saying, “Why’s Danica Patrick interviewing, this isn’t NASCAR!”

Danica Patrick gets into trouble as the F1 circus arrives in Hungary
Now for ardent fans of the sport, Danica Patrick is indeed a polarizing figure. Despite being the sport’s most successful female driver, she has also been at the receiving end of numerous criticism for her on-track performances. Her over-the-top driving style and her consistency in wrecking herself made her a polarizing figure.
While Patrick is no longer racing in NASCAR, her role as Sky Sports presenter for F1 has got her in a rut recently. With the Formula 1 action headed to Hungary this week, the Mercedes driver returned to the top of the timing charts, acing the qualifying session. He even broke the record for most poles at a single circuit with his ninth at the Hungaroring, edging out Max Verstappen by 0.250s.
