“I’ve Been So Sad” – Chase Elliott Reacts to Freddie Freeman’s All-But-Confirmed Move Away From the Atlanta Braves

There are a few things that are beyond the control of the biggest of names, the biggest of celebrities. Just ask Chase Elliott, arguably one of the biggest names in NASCAR today, who feels helpless in preventing a move of one of his beloved players.

Elliott, a huge supporter of the Atlanta Braves, recently spoke about the all-but-confirmed transfer of Freddie Freeman from the Braves to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Speaking ahead of the race in Atlanta, the Dawsonville native said he knew the Freeman questions were coming.

“Man, I tried hard (to get the sides to reach an agreement). Apparently, I didn’t do a good enough job. I’ve been so sad reading some of the news yesterday,” Elliott said.

“But look, I get it. Moneyball is in effect, right? It’s one of those things where A) there’s nothing I can do about it, and B) I have to imagine the folks who run the Atlanta Braves are a lot more knowledgeable about the game than I am. So we’ll leave it with them and hope for the best.”

The 2020 NASCAR Cup Champion described Freeman as “a good dude” and “a fantastic baseball player.” 

“I hate to see Freddie go,” Elliott said.“You hate to see such a good individual, such a good guy that’s been a great leader of the organization leave.”

But having said that, Chase Elliott realizes Freeman leaving happened for a reason, and wherever he ends up, (Dodgers), the NASCAR driver wishes him “the very best.”
