It seems there can never be parity in how a penalty by NASCAR is received. There are always going to be those who agree with a ruling and call it fair, just as there will be those who disagree with the ruling and call it unfair. As for the recent penalty handed to 23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick, the case was the latter.

Fans claimed the penalty was an unfair one, considering how similar offenses were dealt with in the past.

According to NASCAR, they issued a deduction of 10 driver and 10 owner points to the #45 team of the Michael Jordan-Denny Hamlin-based organization. This was because they were found in violation of Section 14.11.2.1.A of the Rule Book.

That section of the rulebook states, “Any and all ballast added to the vehicle must be secured inside a ballast container(s). … Additional ballast containers will not be permitted to be added to the chassis.”

“And they say Nascar is biased towards Hendrick???”

“It’s the same penalty that @Blaney & team received w/ Todd Gordon suspended in 2020”

Tyler Reddick talks about his big goals for his first year at 23XI Racing

Speaking in an interview with Forbes last month, Tyler Reddick opened up on the great group of people he has around him in his new organization. With this, he also let the fans in on his goals in the first year at 23XI.

“I have great people around me,” Reddick said. “Winning races is a huge goal, and we want to consistently be in the top five. For me, this team and its growth, bringing cars to seven out of [the first] 10 races that we can win or compete in the top five is huge.”

“I’m really, really curious to see what our potential is. We want to make the playoffs. Everyone set a goal for top-10 in points, but we don’t want to be content with that. We want to keep pushing.”

With that said, do you think Reddick will be able to make it to the playoffs? Or could this penalty hamper his goals?
