The 2023 Craftsman Truck Series season was a rollercoaster ride for Matt DiBenedetto. The 32-year-old had kicked off the year strong for Rackley W.A.R., locking a spot in the playoffs and eventually ending the year with his best Truck Series career finish. But while the 10th position spot at the end was solid, DiBenedetto sent shockwaves through the NASCAR community when he announced he would depart Rackley W.A.R. at the end of the season.

So when that journey was cut short by his knockout in the playoffs, fans of the California native were eager to figure out his next move. Fortunately, it looks like that anticipation finally meets an end, as Matt DiBenedetto announced not one, but two major campaigns for the 2024 season!

For a few months, fans of the veteran Cup Series driver, Matt DiBenedetto, had no clue what his next move would be. In his two Truck seasons with Rackley W.A.R., DiBenedetto brought in solid results, with the best one being his trip to the Talladega victory lane in 2022. Unfortunately for this promising partnership, DiBenedetto had other plans for his 2024 season.

With that said, nothing seemed to come to fruition for a long time. There were talks of DiBenedetto returning to the Cup Series with Kaulig Racing, but ultimately, DiBenedetto has announced that he’ll be making a step up from trucks this year. The 32-year-old will get behind the wheel of the #38 Mustang Darkhorse belonging to Viking Motorsports for the Xfinity Series, solving a piece of the puzzle that is his 2024 campaign.

And just two days later, DiBenedetto has also revealed that he’ll be channeling his inner Kyle Larson and taking to the dirt track! In an Instagram post, the California native spilled the beans, “ANOTHER racing announcement 🥳 starting April 10th at @millbridgespeedway I’ll be running my first micro race 💪🏼 Thanks Austin @abenterprises_llc and @drivenmidwest for the opportunity to sling some dirt this year! Full schedule of races to come.”

Not only is Matt DiBenedetto going to run in Xfinity this year, but he also has great plans for the Micro Sprint car class in partnership with Micro Sprint development team AB Enterprises as well as Driven Performance Midwest. While the schedule for his dirt racing campaign is yet to be revealed, fans can catch DiBenedetto jumping into sprint car action on the 10th of April at Millbridge Speedway.

While it’s safe to say Matt DiBenedetto has officially turned the tables on his 2024 campaign, how exactly did his opportunity with Viking Motorsports come around after the season had already commenced?
