This ambitious endeavor is dubbed “Garage 56,” with John Doonan leading the project as the leader. With their recent success in the pit crew challenge, fans are now optimistic about their chances of securing a victory in the actual race.

Amid all the excitement, Marshall Pruett, an ESPN reporter, and former team manager, shared a video on Twitter featuring Chad Knaus, Vice President of Competition at Hendrick Motorsports. In the video, he discussed the challenges they faced and how they are addressing them.

What Are the Challenges in a Project as Prominent as Garage 56?

Marshall Pruett posed a question to Knaus about the logistics of creating and transporting a complete team for the 2023 Le Mans race, particularly with an experimental car that has already proven to be exceptionally fast.

In response, Knaus said, “You never know until you know, right? I was very fortunate to be able to come out to Le Mans last two years. The first year just only for a couple of days and last year for the duration. And really got into a good understanding of what happens behind the scenes. If I hadn’t had that opportunity. I don’t think we would be able to prepare what we are today.”

“To know what it takes to have a container, To know it takes to have all of your equipment labeled and that you gonna need for tires warmers. Know what it takes for engineers here in the paddock upstairs and back at the house. (…) it’s pretty interesting we did a pretty good job in building race cars and taking them to a race track,” said Knaus. “We never had to do anything till we pack everything up, put in a container, and put it in an airplane and just say, Okay see you in a couple of weeks.”

“It’s really important to us but it’s gone seemingly well. Pit crews have done amazing they have been working so hard and so long on this As the thing is as we are trying to explain in this (…) You can’t do it unless you know,” Chad concluded.
