Ahead of the playoffs, Denny Hamlin sets sail with his momentum

The three-time Daytona winner is seemingly cruising through the ongoing NASCAR season. Not only did the driver score victories that also marked his 50th career win, but he also asserted his dominion as a successful team owner of 23XI Racing. The team, which he co-owns with NBA legend Michael Jordan, witnessed in the past week its second and last driver, Bubba Wallace, being locked in the playoffs by virtue of points.

Among the rain of accolades, the veteran driver is yet to solve the puzzle of his racing career. As the playoffs take the limelight and the silly season comes to a culmination, Hamlin is yet to confirm his position and extend his contract with the Joe Gibbs Racing team. It has been the only team that Hamlin has ever raced for since his Cup Series career. As the narratives continually shift, another intriguing storyline seems to be added after the recent outing of Denny Hamlin on the track at Darlington.

Another crown to adorn the stable, while he is still at Joe Gibbs Racing.

Although Austin Hill and John Hunter Nemechek participated in a fierce battle and jockeyed for the lead, Hamlin was able to persevere in the late caution and survive the overtime without relinquishing the lead to his rivals.

A clearly elated Denny Hamlin expressed in the post-race interview, I appreciate everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing giving me the opportunity to do one Xfinity race per year and it’s great to have a win.”

“It took a while (to find a rhythm). I really needed some long runs, but I really didn’t want to show everything we had until the very end of the race there. It was going to be cool to see that race play out (under green) but, still, a great win.”

As the dark clouds seem to hover over the racing future of Denny Hamlin, the victory in the Xfinity race comes as a saving grace for the driver. Nevertheless, with the playoffs for the Cup Series beginning on Sunday, it remains to be seen whether Hamlin is able to hold onto his momentum and earn another consecutive victory.
