Amidst NASCAR Links, Richard Childress Assaulted Kyle Busch & Karma Hit With a $150,000 Dent in His Wallet Few Years Ago

With rumors of Richard Childress pursuing the possible free agent, Kyle Busch, in 2023, there is something important to look at about the history of the team owner with the driver. And in case you might now know, their past altercation caused great trouble to the RCR owner.

NASCAR fined Childress a whopping $150,000 for assaulting Kyle on the pit road after the Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway. Well, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver was racing against RCR driver, Joey Coulter, when things for a little bitter between the two drivers. Moreover, Childress’ top driver in the Cup Series, Kevin Harvick, was also having issues with Busch.

Soon enough, when Kyle took his truck to the pit road, a furious Richard Childress put the JGR driver in a headlock and landed multiple punches to his face. NASCAR was quick to respond as they handed the team owner a big fine. Luckily, Childress admitted his mistake.

“First of all, I’m responsible for my actions, plain and simple,” he said. “As you know, I am a very principled person and have a passion for what we do at Richard Childress Racing. I believe passionately in defending my race teams and my sponsor partners. In this instance, I let that passion and my emotions get the best of me.”

Well, it’s clear that the team owner admits his mistake plain and clear. And it seems things have improved between the two, as rumor suggests that the RCR boss is pursuing Kyle ‘aggressively’.

Apparently, the RCR boss is pursuing Busch, as his future at Joe Gibbs Racing remains a question mark. Of course, the sponsorship saga has put a lot of questions on his future in the sport. And possibly all of it might make him a free agent next year. But there might be some hope for the two-time cup series champion after all.

NASCAR spotter, Brett Griffin said, “There’s a lot of rumors that Richard Childress is aggressively pursuing Kyle Busch. Obviously, you would think that for the #8 car for next year.”
