With the ever-dangerous Pocono Raceway bustling in the background, Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano‘s rivalry is the stuff of legends. The duo had collided on the track in 2010 before locking horns in the garage area. Words were exchanged and fists were almost thrown. However, it seems there’s no bad blood between the two champions anymore, as was evident from Logano’s recent comments about Harvick.

With the end of the postseason marking the completion of Harvick’s career in the Cup Series, the emotions between them have changed drastically. Over the years, the beef between two NASCAR champions has toned down and turned into a healthy relationship instead. As Kevin Harvick bids adieu to full-time racing, Logano has sent a beautiful and nostalgic farewell for the iconic #4 driver.

In 2010, Harvick was still a part of Richard Childress Racing and was driving the #29 Chevrolet. In an attempt to make a pass on a speeding Logano, the 47-year-old bumped the rear of the No.20 car and spun onto the middle of the track. This allowed Harvick to move forward and finish 4th, while Logano fell behind to a P13 finish.

The aftermath of the contact spilled into the garage area as the pair confronted each other, with Logano furious at Harvick. RCR crew members held back Logano, who tried to shove them aside to get closer to Kevin Harvick as he exclaimed, “It’s probably not his fault, you know. His wife wears the firesuit in his family, tells him what to do.”

Fast forward to November 2023, and the beef has been squashed. In a video that shows personalities from different generations coming together to wish Harvick a happy retirement, Logano expressed his gratitude by saying,

Kevin, thanks for all the years of headaches and hard times but also the good times and the lessons learned, the fun that we have had. Probably more recently than early in my career, but I do appreciate the lessons learned early in my career, the fun we’ve had more recently on the racetrack racing each other, off the racetrack. The lessons I’ve learned on just how you do things, not necessarily on the race track, has been really fun for me to do, and I’ve applied those a lot in my life. So just wanted you to know that congratulations on an amazing career. I don’t think you’d want to change much, and I’m sure we’ll see you around a lot.”

Well, that was a drastic U-turn from his words in 2010. Driver dynamics can often soften over time; the relationship between these two NASCAR champions is a great example.

Earlier this year, Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano exchanged a gesture of appreciation and partnership through each other’s charitable groups. Harvick donated $12,000 to Logano’s foundation.

The donation was funded by the revenue generated from Harvick’s merchandise store and was used to benefit both the charity foundations. The major source of revenue was the sale of the T-shirts that sarcastically took a sly dig at Logano’s comments towards Harvick in 2010. The shirts were printed with the quote, “I wear the fire suit in this family,” and was donned by Kevin’s wife, DeLana.

Logano also ran the Shell Pennzoil paint scheme from Harvick’s former #29 Chevy at Darlington in 2019. His wife Brittany also paid tribute by wearing a fire suit at the event of the big reveal. She also wore the same attire in the Cup race to the pit road.

Their breakneck speeds, paired with the robust nature of the sport, really struck a chord with me. After I found a deep-rooted interest in automobile design early in life, the sport piqued my interest in a jiffy. Kyle Busch and his cutthroat style of racing played an important role in getting me hooked to NASCAR as I hopped on streams to watch him win races.
