The annual pre-season exhibition race, the Busch Light Clash, is in search of a new home. LA Coliseum has been hosting the event since 2022 and had a contract to run the event until 2024. With the rain playing a major party spoiler for the 2024 Clash event, many experts from the community felt that Clash should be moving to a new venue next year.

There had been talks about NASCAR going international and possibly moving to Mexico for next year’s Clash event. However, going by Dale Earnhardt Jr’s recent comments on X, he feels like NASCAR could shift the event to Bowman Gray Stadium.

What led Dale Jr to consider Bowman Gray as the next potential option for the Clash event?

NASCAR today announced that they would be taking over the operational control over Bowman Gray Stadium from its current custodians, the Hawkins Family. The race track served as one of the earliest venues for NASCAR racing. Moreover, with the lease, NASCAR, in partnership with the City of Winston-Salem, will oversee the racing operation of the historic venue until 2050.

Ben Kennedy, NASCAR SVP of racing development and strategy, hinted about the potential return of NASCAR racing on the iconic short track. This seems to have caught Dale Earnhardt Jr’s attention and thus prompted him to predict NASCAR’s next move for the Busch Light Clash 2025.

Is NASCAR about to give us the Clash at BG in 2025? 🤯”. Dale Jr wrote via his X account. It has to be noted that the last NASCAR Cup Series at Bowman Gray was run back in 1971, and for 53 years, the venue hasn’t seen NASCAR return with its events. Greats like Lee Petty, Richard Petty, Ralph Earnhardt, and Jerry Cook have all graced the half-mile race track. So given its rich history and racing heritage, NASCAR might consider it as an option for the next 2025 Busch Light Clash.

Although Dale Jr was just predicting a potential new venue for the Clash, the fans seemed to have mixed reactions to NASCAR moving the Clash to Bowman Gray Stadium.

Sharing a different opinion on the same, another fan suggested a better solution, one that brings back North Wilkesboro to the regular schedule. “Make BG the All-Star race and give North Wilkesboro a spot on the regular season schedule”.

Some shared their concerns regarding the weather in North Carolina during the Clash event. “If cold weather doesn’t matter. Why can’t NASCAR do something in NYC or Boston for the clash too“. Echoing a similar sentiment, an angry fan replied, “How about NO! No passing! No on the weather! No thank you”.

Do you think Bowman Gray is the right choice for the 2025 Busch Light Clash? If not, which venue, according to you, should be appropriate for the exhibition event?
