A couple of days ago, a large number of verified Twitter accounts lost their blue tick verification badges en mass. Unfortunately, this had some unintended consequences of encouraging some outrageous rumors. The biggest one that is doing the rounds on the internet is about the F1 star and two-time champion Fernando Alonso.
According to the rumor mill, it is believed that he is in a relationship with popular American pop icon, Taylor Swift. This took the Twitter community by storm, and it even entered the NASCAR frat. Among the people reacting were Bubba Wallace and former Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski.

Obviously, the rumors are unconfirmed, but it seems that Keselowski admitted to believing them. On the other end of the scale, Wallace was pretty surprised at the rumor. Speaking ahead of the race weekend at Talladega, he seemed to be doubting the legitimacy of the rumors. According to him, his wife Amanda is heading to one of Swift’s concerts, so she would get an answer right from the source.

Upon hearing that the rumor was going viral, Wallace exclaimed, “What! Good for him! Damn! Good for her!“
Whether the rumors are true or not, they’ve certainly got the motorsport community and Taylor Swift fans talking. So far, neither party has confirmed or denied the rumors. As for Alonso, it wouldn’t come as a surprise for fans as he has been involved with models and pop icons in the past as well.
For now, Alonso will be enjoying his final week of rest before he is back on track at Baku. Meanwhile, Bubba Wallace will be focusing on his race weekend at the Talladega Superspeedway. This is an important race for Wallace for multiple reasons. First and foremost, he has not been performing too well this season, so he needs a good result. Secondly, the Talladega Superspeedway is his home track, so there is a fair bit of pressure, but also a fair bit of confidence, after having secured a win here in 2021.
