With the first road course race up next, NASCAR drivers will have to ‘adjust’ their approach. Now, for some drivers, that adjustment comes easy, for some, not so much. Regardless, two of the current Cup drivers, Bubba Wallace and Alex Bowman, are set to take part in races prior to Sunday to get a better understanding of the track at the Circuit of The Americas.

NASCAR journalist Austin Konenski confirmed that Bubba Wallace will be running a Joe Gibbs Racing entry in the Xfinity Series race at COTA.

“The entry list now confirms Bubba Wallace and Joe Gibbs Racing are teaming up at COTA. Wallace’s last Xfinity Series race with JGR was in 2014 at Daytona International Speedway,” he tweeted.

While Alex Bowman is set to give the Truck Series a go; the Vegas winner will be behind the wheel of the Spire Motorsports truck this weekend.

“Alex Bowman will drive the No. 7 truck for Spire Motorsports in this weekend’s NASCAR Truck Series race at Circuit of The Americas. Kevin Manion will be the crew chief,” Konenski tweeted.

Bubba Wallace had admitted he struggles at road courses

In the recent Netflix docu-series, ‘Race: Bubba Wallace’, the 23XI Racing driver had confessed in one of the episodes that he finds racing at road courses pretty challenging.

In fact, the series revealed how Wallace had to take special lessons to prepare for the race in Sonoma.

The Talladega winner insisted that while racing on ovals comes naturally to him, racing on tracks like COTA and Sonoma is something of a headache, which is also the case for some other NASCAR drivers too.

So it’s good to see both Bubba Wallace and Alex Bowman prepare for their race in Austin. Although both drivers have had pretty different seasons from each other, the weekend in COTA could be a key one for both of them.
