It was earlier reported that Hendrick Motorsports have shortlisted four drivers for their 24 hours of Le Mans project next year. Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Jimmie Johnson, and Jeff Gordon are the drivers Rick Hendrick’s team is considering to fill up the three available spots.

However, there could be another name in the mix as well.

A driver who has proven pedigree in endurance racing, a driver who is currently in the form of his life, a driver that goes by the name of Helio Castroneves.

The defending Rolex 24 and INDY500 winner recently announced his availability and intention to be a part of the Le Mans project for Hendrick Motorsports after Chase Elliott not only suggested problems with the schedule but outright declined the opportunity should it coincide with another event.

Castroneves tweeted, “I’ll do it!🙋🏻‍♂️😜.”

The No.9 driver then went on to suggest that he’s “not sure” what their schedule is, that the odds of “any of us” going to France next year are not that high.

But when he was asked about what he’d choose between the Le Mans opportunity and the NASCAR All-Star race, should they overlap or take place in the same time period, Elliott didn’t miss a beat in giving an answer.
