Dale Earnhardt Jr recently shed light on Carl Edwards’ journey, revealing where he had been and what he had been doing.

On his ‘Dale Jr Download’ podcast, Earnhardt also discussed the excitement surrounding rumors of Carl’s potential return to racing.

In the NASCAR Cup Series of 2016, Carl Edwards came close to winning the championship but had his hopes dashed by a crash in the finale. Following the conclusion of the season, Edwards announced his retirement from racing.

Amid fans’ request for Carl Edwards to make a return to NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt Jr. revealed how Edwards spends his time nowadays.

Dale said on his podcast, “I can tell in his eyes that it pains him a little bit, to have to be quite honest about that. He has thought about little bit. But hey, he is having a great time, he is traveling the world, he is seeing so much with his family. He has got other plans(…) that are gonna be time-consuming things that he’s gonna do with his family.”

Dale highlighted that he and other individuals in the racing world were present at races, allowing fans to keep up with their activities. In contrast, fans had little knowledge of Carl’s life post-retirement, leading to a heightened demand for updates on his endeavors.

“So, They were thrilled to see him and obviously he has been hammered about being back in the race car” said Dale Jr.

Is Carl Edward making his comeback at NASCAR?

While Carl Edwards was in the commentary booth, his fellow retired driver Clint Bowyer was asked if he had ever considered returning to the race car in NASCAR.

As quoted by autosport.com Edwards replied, It was easy to not race when I first stepped away, but it’s getting harder and harder. I like sliding stuff around and driving cars. So there’ll be a time when I go do something. Maybe sim work, something like that … to see if I could still drive. It’s a step-by-step process.”

Edwards added: “I love racing cars. I love driving cars. But I want to do it at 100%. For me, to step away from the sport when I did, I got to go do the things that I wanted to do 100% and if I ever come back, I want to be able to give it all I got.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr. also mentioned that Carl Edwards is completely healthy, and he believes that Edwards possibly has ten years ahead of him in his racing career.
