Dale Earnhardt Jr Disagrees With NASCAR’s Sanction on Ty Gibbs for Sam Mayer Brawl: “Gonna Sell Tickets… Don’t Want to Put Them on a Leash”

The NASCAR Xfinity Series was at Martinsville for the sixth round of race event. The race saw Joe Gibbs Racing driver Ty Gibbs having a go at JR Motorsports driver Sam Mayer. Dale Earnhardt Jr puts his views on the physical altercation that took place in Virginia.

Talking about this, Dale Earnhardt Jr conveyed, “I don’t think any penalties should be given to any drivers. I didn’t see anything that went over the line. All the on-track stuff even after the chequered flag I’m fine with it and I think everything happened on pit road gets handled by the court of public opinion.”

“The polices itself around things like that. Nothing that I saw went beyond, went across the line into being a mockery or making the sport look bad. All the things that I saw gonna create interest, gonna sell tickets and gonna get us in the news in a good way.”, continued the semi-retired driver.

Dale further stated, “So I think we should not you know encourage Ty or Sam to go out on the race-track and continue to being crazy but we definitely wanna dial them back, we don’t want to pull or we don’t want to put them on a leash and you know behave. But definitely don’t want to encourage that either I think.”

How did Ty Gibbs and Sam Mayer fare in the race Dale Earnhardt talks about?

Gibbs ran into the back of Mayer’s car in reply to the knock initiated by Sam during the overtime lap of the race. The knock kicked Gibbs out of the contention for the $100,000 bonus and the win. However, both the drivers weren’t sanctioned. But the physical altercation found Ty guilty and the NASCAR Xfinity Series authority fined him $15,000.

Ty Gibbs dominated the whole race but got nudged out of the way by his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Brandon Jones. Ty finished the race in the eighth position while Brandon went on to win the race.

On the other than, Mayer finished the race in the fifth position and AJ Allmendinger grabbed the $100,000 Dash4Cash award.
