Dale Earnhardt Jr has always shared a positive relationship with the people involved with his former team, Hendrick Motorsports. He also shares a close relationship with Chase Elliott and the pair often fool around with each other. This one time, before the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega, Junior was asked if he knew where Chase Elliott was and his hilarious one-line response had the fans laughing their lungs out.

Earnhardt Jr was asked, “Where’s the kid at?… Chase is supposed to be here too, where is he?”

Junior stated, “I don’t know. I’m not his keeper “

Elliott eventually did appear a bit later to the fan interaction/live interview, but by then he had missed the joke Junior had cracked earlier about him. Elliott and Junior were teammates during that point in time, at Hendrick Motorsports. The joke was obviously all in good humor and only highlighted the healthy relationship between the two.

Dale Earnhardt Jr was in his final season during that time

The 2017 season was the final season for Dale Earnhardt Jr, and after a fairly successful career, he finally decided to head into retirement and pay attention to his health.

Junior had issues with concussion-like symptoms which rendered him out of the car for quite a large part of the 2016 season. However, as his health recovered he decided to get back into racing. But in 2017, he decided to hang up his helmet after an illustrious career in the sport.

Junior’s only regret would be that in all of his year racing in the Cup Series, he was never able to win the Championship. However, he did receive many other accolades for his performances throughout his career. It would hurt more considering that Earnhardt’s father had won the Cup Series championship seven times over and that he could never match his father’s records.

But by no means does it indicate that Jr. was not good in the car; he was fantastic. Unfortunately, lady luck was just not on his side.
