Hollywood and NASCAR are connected through fast races and big personalities. Filmmakers have captured the sport’s excitement in movies like
Days of Thunder (1990) with Tom Cruise and Talladega Nights (2006). Real veterans like Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jeff Gordon made their movie debuts for authenticity, and the Talladega and Daytona tracks surfaced as backdrops. NASCAR gained fans from these films, while Hollywood kept the sport alive in pop culture.ADVERTISEMENT

They’ve blended to the extent that today stars like Frankie Muniz Jr. (Agent Cody Banks, if you remember) appeared on a NASCAR race track. The fine blend of cinema and racing constitutes a picture for the ages. But what gets exciting when you come across dating rumors between these two star-making industries? Recently, Dale Earnhardt Jr recalled an incident about his link-up with one such superstar in the past, and his wife Amy didn’t hold herself back.
Amy doesn’t let Dale Jr. forget about his 20-million album selling artist connection
This matter started after NASCAR star William Byron laughed at rumors linking him romantically to pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter. After his Daytona 500 win on February 16, 2025, a parody Instagram account sparked speculation by posting a fake flirty comment from Byron on Carpenter’s photo.
Speaking to TMZ, Byron dismisses it with a chuckle, saying,
“They do a really good job with Photoshop nowadays.” He playfully invites Carpenter to a race, adding, “Maybe we can get her out to a race or something, that would be great. Or I can get to a show.” But the rumor sparked an interesting banter between Dale Jr. and his wife.Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy revisited a wild moment from their early dating days tied to Jessica Simpson. During their Bless Your Hardt podcast, Amy brought up how celebrities swarmed the Daytona 500, saying, “Jessica Simpson’s coming to perform, and she did a media interview where she talked about how she had had a dream where you and her got married in a treehouse.”

Dale responds, “How weird,” while Amy admits it with a hint of jealousy.
“I was a fan before I heard that… I was like, can you bring her by the bus, I want to meet her,” she recalls. Dale shuts it down, saying, “No, I don’t think I want to mess with that.”
In 2008, Jessica Simpson’s performance at Lowes Motor Speedway before the Bank of America 500 had a subtle nod to Dale Jr. through her attire. Now, he has moved on, and so would Jessica. Dale Jr. is now blissfully married to Amy and is the father of two daughters, Isla Rose and Nicole Lorraine.
He has seen the peak stardom of his father, Dale Sr., in his prime, both on and off track. So, he is used to handling big names around him. But what he did with this prominent American figure is one for the history books to remember.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s attitude once surprised a former President
Dale Earnhardt Jr. recalled a memorable phone call with former President George W. Bush after clinching the 2004 Daytona 500. Speaking on his Dale Jr. Download podcast, the NASCAR icon shares how his laid-back style catches Bush off-guard.

“As soon as you start talking to him, you realize he’s just one of the guys,” Earnhardt says of Bush, who attended the race and called to congratulate him post-victory. Standing in the media center, Earnhardt took the call mid-interview, unfazed by the presidential interruption.

Bush, the 43rd U.S. President, chuckled at Earnhardt’s nonchalant tone. “George W. Bush [said] Good job today, appreciate you. You’re representing. Being a great citizen. You’re being an awesome American. I was like, thanks a lot, man. I appreciate it,” recalled Junior. Earnhardt didn’t change his approach, even for a world leader, reflecting his down-to-earth nature.

His wife Amy chimed in and called Bush “that uncle you’ve known,” highlighting the former president’s approachable nature.
This isn’t the first presidential NASCAR cameo. George H.W. Bush attended the 1992 Pepsi 400; however, Earnhardt’s easygoing response turned it iconic. No wonder we know how he handles himself on his podcast. For Earnhardt, it was just another story proving that racing and relatability go hand in hand.
