Silence speaks louder than words. This is what is evident from a recent Twitter war. The umbrella term motorsports includes forms of racing as diverse as NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula 1 cars, sprint, dirt, midget, late models, drag racing, etc. Evidently, there can be no denying that one motorsport often tries to outdo the other in the spectrum.

However, the recent scenario on Twitter seems to opine differently. To this, Dale Earnhardt Jr leaves a bashing reply.

Dale Jr gives a silent treatment to an argument

The inception of the Twitter war can be traced back to Landon Cassill’s tweet where he wrote, “I would say IndyCar drivers are more versatile than F1 drivers, V8 supercars, Rally, and probably most other forms of motorsports. But not more than a Cup Series driver. Not debating who is “better” or “more talented.” Just focusing on versatility.”

In the new war of tweets, Scott McLaughlin, the Team Penske’s driver, had perhaps a different reaction. The IndyCar driver left a comment, “I think this is an ignorant tweet, looking for reaction. I disagree with it like many. NASCAR drivers are VERY good, VERY versatile. Not the most versatile in the world. If you are good, you have to be versatile, doesn’t matter if you race nascar/ Indy/ Sportscar/f1/karting.

Instead of hurling words at the fellow driver, Dale Jr, in a silent symbol of support, simply retweeted Landon Cassill’s original tweet. Junior, in a stealth manner, shunned all the questions raised by the IndyCar driver.

Fans refuse to choose a side

The IndyCar driver, however, didn’t just want to be a mere spectacle of this. He wrote, “Yep seen this. If you are good you have to be versatile. Doesn’t matter what you drive or create your career in. Don’t think you can pinpoint one series and say “they are the most versatile.”

The fans chose a neutral tone in the fight of words. One wrote, “I think “some” Indycar drivers are more versatile than “some” NASCAR drivers, and vice versa. When the original tweet is so generalized, Scott’s right, it’s looking for a reaction. Both disciplines require a broad set of skills, and some translate those skills to other series.”

This user showed resentment that had risen from the unnecessary comparison between the emerging lineages of the family of motorsports.

Far from dividing the room, the fan’s shared perspective was a ball of fresh air. All fans want is a good race while cheering on for their favorite driver and just ride the excitement.
